DOMAINE METRAT ET FILS
With a winemaking pedigree that goes back generations, the Metrat family home and winery are found in the midst of the very highly-regarded sector of Fleurie called “La Roilette”. La Roilette lies towards the bottom of the slope, close to the border of Moulin-a-Vent, and here the soil has a base of clay underneath decomposed pink granite, helping to give these wines excellent depth, complexity, and structure - and making them truly ageworthy Gamay.
The Metrat family’s single vineyard sites in the crus of Fleurie and Chiroubles, along with the 60-90+ year old vines planted there, will remind you of why you fell in love with Beaujolais….
The Metrat family’s winemaking is traditional, employing cement vats for fermentation; using native yeasts; whole clusters; and aging in stainless steel (except for a small percentage of the wines that see a bit of time in used barrel). Farming is organic.
